Press Release-June 12, 2025
Good afternoon,
Pending an imminent risk of violating the nitrate standard, all commercial and residential lawn watering and use of automatic lawn watering systems are prohibited until further notice.
This ban is effective immediately and affects all businesses and all residential customers served by Central Iowa Water Works including Warren Water District customers. See full Press Release here.
What do I need to do?
- Do not water lawns and gardens.
- If you have an automatic sprinkler system, turn it off completely.
- Do not fill pools or wash cars and skip outdoor water play.
- Share this message with neighbors or friends who may have missed it, so they do their part to reduce water demand.
Use these water-saving habits inside:
- Look for dripping or leaking faucets, hoses or toilets and fix them fast.
- Only run dishwashers and washing machines when full.
- Take shorter showers.
- Turn off water while brushing teeth, shaving or washing dishes.
- Reuse water when you can—like from half-full glasses or rinsing veggies—to water potted plants.
